Star magnolia

Magnolia stellata opens white flowers with narrow petals before the leaves appear. Their star-like shape creates a delicate accent in early spring. Choose a visible, sheltered position where the crown can develop without frequent pruning.

Plant in sun or partial shade in a sheltered position with fertile, well-drained soil. Maintain moisture during establishment. Mulch without covering the base of the trunk. Avoid heavy pruning; late frosts can damage flowers.
